1. Quick Start Guides

Designing your first promotion

A quick walkthrough of how to design your first promotion

BeeLiked is all about helping you engage with your digital audiences, and we've made it as quick and as easy as possible to customize it to your needs.

If you've already created your first promotion, you'll have a ready designed template that you can now customize.

If you haven't yet created your first promotion, follow along the steps in this article: Getting started with your first promotion

Once you have created your first promotion, be sure to familiarize  yourself with the Builder. Watch this this 2 minute video for a quick orientation and to ensure you don't waste any time wondering how to change the look of your promotion.

1. Set your theme

You use the theme to set your background, colors, and fonts, and if you have a Premium plan, you can get to the advanced settings to further customize your promotion using CSS. Watch the tutorial video below to learn about the Design Theme.

2. Upload, add or change images

When you created your promotion from a ready made design, all the images used in the promotion will have been copied into the 'Ready Made' folder in your Media Library.

If you want to review these images and perhaps design alternatives, then all you need to do is open the Ready Made folder and click on any of the images you see. A thumbnail preview will appear and if you hover your mouse over the preview, you will see that the image size will be shown to you.

If you want to add some additional images to your promotion, you can easily do that in any of the other folders in the Media Library (you can not added images to the Ready Made folder).

Let's say you want to change the background image used in your promotion, then you'd open the Theme, go to Background and then click the pencil icon to change the image.

The Media Library will load, and you either select an image already in one of the folders in your library, or upload another (be sure to click on any of the other folders as you can not upload images to the ready made folder). You will then see the option to drag or click to upload an image.

and then select the image so the thumbnail is loaded and click the Insert button.

Once you have added images, video, etc, you can then use these anywhere in your promotion.

3. Editing images in each section of your promotion

Identify a section you'd like to edit and hover over it and then click to open the edit window. Depending on the section you click, you will see different options. Content areas (anything outside of the game section) are simple to edit.

If you've set your Theme, then the colors and fonts in these sections are already controlled for you, so you don't need to make changes to those, unless you wish to override your stylesheet in just these sections.

Any images, you can click to select and then hit the backspace button on your keyboard to delete them and use the editor icons to add in new imagery. You can also resize images by selecting and dragging the corners.

4. Edit some text

It should be straightforward to edit text as you again just point and click to bring up the editor.

Simply delete and rewrite as you'd like it to appear. Remember that the Theme is by default controlling your font and the colors of your text, so if you want to make some text a Heading (H1, H2, or H3) highlight the text and then use the selector to make the text a heading. Do the same for paragraphs too.

Note that the text in the editor is always black (by default), but when you preview it, it will take the color set in the Theme. The only time the color in the editor changes, is when you override the default by applying color settings in the editor itself.

Here is white text on the promotion, but in the editor it is black

Why is this.. the text 'Unwrap the box...' is set as a heading. (see the vertical ... for the additional menu items)

If we then look at the Theme, we'll see that the Heading 2 (H2) color is set as white

The best way to change the color of the text, is to change the color in the Theme as that keeps everything the same. However, if you do just want to change this particular text, then you can highlight it in the editor and then apply a color (just as you would in any text editor). (As a note of caution, if you make the text white, it won't be visible in the editor without highlighting it again).
