Here's how to add your own images by uploading to the Media Library and inserting into your promotion
The Basics
Uploading images to a promotion is easy. It's probably best to start with a pre-designed Ready-Made promotion and then go through replacing the images. Check out our getting started guide to create your first promotion.
When you create a promotion with BeeLiked, you will be starting from a Ready Made design which we have put together for you. Once the Promotion is ready to be edited, you will be able to open the Builder and set about customizing the imagery and text.
The first thing to know is that all the images you see in your promotion are stored in the Media Library and when you start from a Ready Made, they are copied for you into a special folder in the Media Library for you to be able to view and download.
You can access this Media Library from the left menu of the Builder.
If you explore the files in the Ready Made folder you will be able to see the image sizes and you can also download them and make any edits to them you wish, before uploading to a different folder. (you can not upload images to the Ready Made folder, so pick any of the other folders to upload imagery to).
Hovering over an image in the Media Library will show you its size dimensions.
When you want to upload your own images to the Media Library, you just have to pick one of the other folders and then you can either drag your images into the designated area, or click and browse your device to upload images.
(Note there are size restrictions, you don't want to be adding large image files as it will make your promotions load slowly. We recommend using Canva if you wish to create images and don't have another image editor.)
Inserting Images into your Promotion
Inserting the images into your promotion is then simply a question of navigating to the right section of your promotion in the Builder and clicking to open the options to edit it. Depending on what you open, you will have different ways to add images.
In a normal text area, you will find a simple editor.
In this example, if we wanted to remove the 'Happy Holidays' banner, we would simply click on it to highlight it and then use the backspace or delete option on your computer to remove.
Once removed, you may wish to add another image. To do this you would choose the image icon in the editor and the Media Library will appear.
With the Media Library now open, you choose one of the folders where you either already have an image you wish to use or where you want to upload a new image to use.
Once the image you wish to use is in the Media Library, select it and then the option to Insert will appear.
You will then see the image inserted into the editor. If you wish you can resize it (though we recommend where possible you insert images with the correct sizes).
Now most importantly click SAVE. Once saved, you will see your new image appear in the designated area.
Changing the Background Image of your promotion
The same principle for adding your own images applies to all areas of your promotion. If you are looking for where to change the Background image, you'll find it under Theme > Background (learn about setting your Theme - it's your global design control).
Adding an image to your game (e.g. spin wheel or scratch off).
Simply click on the element that you want to customize and a Window will open with its Set Up options. Navigate to the area that you want to change and hover over any image you wish to remove or swap out.
Advanced: Adding images through HTML code
There may be certain instances where you wish to edit the html of areas of your promotion in order to create more advanced design effects. Each image in your promotion has both a full file URL which you can use, and it as a Placeholder or 'Shortcode' which also works.
If you wish to view the HTML of an area of your promotion, you can switch the edit section to 'Source' and view the source code. Any imagery referenced in the source code will show it's URL.
If you wish to find the URL or the Placeholder / shortcode assigned to an image asset stored in your library, you will find it by clicking on the asset in the library and previewing the image thumbnail. Just below the thumbnail you will see the details you need.
